This illustration was created for the junior-level course Illustration I, assigned by Prof. Kevin McCloskey. The only instructions were to draw "anything we wanted," and being an 8 a.m. class, the only thing on my mind was breakfast... particularly cereal. But which brand to chose? With so many options, each with their own bright and colorful mascot, the decision was difficult.
I began by listing each character that I wanted to include, and then determined just who would be fighting whom. Next, I researched each character and their designs and began sketching the arrangement of the fights on the page. Once I had the basic layout, I drew each battle individually, scanned them, cleaned up the line art in Adobe Illustrator, and composited them together using Adobe Photoshop. Photoshop was also employed to airbrush shadows and highlights onto the characters.
